Pupils from Stella Maris school in Heaton Mersey produced artwork that was displayed in a pop-up Art Gallery at this year’s Heatons Open Gardens event recently.
The artwork was sold to raise money for the Alex Hulme Foundation, a charity set up by Nicola and Dave Hulme in memory of their son Alex who sadly lost his battle with Non Hodgkin Lymphoma in 2011.
The charity raises money to fund research and improving treatment for this disease.
The framed artwork by the children from Stella Maris raised £76 and delighted purchasers were excited to take home their art originals on the spot.
Artist Lindsey Davies, who runs the ‘fine art for kids’ club at Stella Maris said: “The children are all so enthusiastic and love a good challenge!
“We recently produced some beautiful paintings inspired by the artwork of Devon based artist Yvonne Comber – the children had great fun doing this and produced some exceptional pieces of work.
“It’s great that we have been able to sell these paintings to raise money for a very worthy cause.”
