Rain and showers didn’t stop Dawn Concannon raising more than £1,000 at a garden party hosted at her home on 12th September 2015 for the Alex Hulme Foundation.
The charity works to aid research into Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in Children and is one especially close to Dawn’s heart.
Fortunately, the sun came out just in time for the start of her private garden party, attended by dozens of people including Alex’s family.
Twenty local businesses supported the event by donating to raffle, with Dawn, from Hyde, now planning to hold a similar party every year to raise money for the Foundation.
Dawn met Alex while training as an oncology nurse and following his tragic death, her family have helped to raise thousands of pounds for the Foundation through a range of charitable endeavours over the past few years.
“I want to thank all my family and friends as without their continued support I could not raise the funds,” said Dawn.
“I’ve had the support over the last few years, holding a number of events including a charity race evening, a pampered chef evening and the 2014 London Marathon.
“My husband and children have also ran the Manchester 10K and mini Bupa run raising a total of £5,795.56.”
The party in the garden event raised a total of £1,030 which Dawn said she was “thrilled” about.
Party-goers enjoyed lots of lovely food, canapés, Prosecco, Pimms and great music.
Dawn thanked the following businesses for donating to the event: The Indian Ocean, Ashton; Quality Save, Hyde; Gym etc, Stalybridge; Tesco, Hyde; Morrisons, Hyde; Sainsbury’s, Ashton; Denton Golf Club; Audi, Stockport; Wilkinsons, Ashton; The Swing Cats, Dublin; Justin Moorhouse tickets; Faircloughs ice cream service; Sam’s Chop House Restaurant, Manchester; Daytona Manchester; Band on the Wall; the Royal College of Music; The Royal Exchange Theatre; Jo Fern Hair Emporium, Chadderton and Manley Mere Adventure Centre, Manley.
