Ashton on Mersey School

Alex’s Brother Matt is in year 8 at Ashton on Mersey school, the same secondary school attended by Alex. The school are a constant source of support for us as a family, Matt as a pupil and the Foundation.

In November 2015 Matt’s Form class, 8PAC along with his form teacher, Miss Cockayne, decided they wanted to do some fundraising for the Foundation. Miss Cockayne, who is also the Art teacher, ran sponsored silences during all her lessons, all the children in the form sold AHF merchandise throughout the school, they held a cake sale, a sponsored Dodge Ball game with the teachers and a Year 8 Christmas Disco. The pupils also held a raffle and to obtain prizes, the pupils wrote to local businesses and received fantastic support, including a signed Sale Sharks ball from our Ambassador, Sam Tuitupou.

At the end of February we were asked to attend an assembly to be presented with a cheque. We were blown away and absolutely delighted to receive a cheque totaling £2,165.04. This is an amazing amount of money and is all thanks to the children in Form 8PAC and their brilliant Form teacher, Miss Cockayne.

In addition to this amazing effort, Wayne Rooney signed a pair of his boots and gave them to the school to be auctioned to raise even more money for the Foundation. We will update you all on how much they raised next time.
