Ian and Karen Sykes were alcohol free for the month of January for the dry January challenge from 9am on 1st January 2014 until midnight of 31st January - 31 days dry 🙂 Their family and friends supported this brilliant effort allowing Karen & Ian to donate, £114.91.
Lisa Payne was alcohol free for the month of January for the dry January challenge and donated £100
Alex & Matt's teacher John Byrne and his band, Midweek Sax played a concert for the Wigan Ramblers. Donations during the evening raised £120 for the Foundation.
Following the raging success of Carole Coram's events in 2011 and 2012, her 2014 event raised £1061.
Cambridge Marathon & St Helens 10K
Due to Phil Sephtons hard work in completing both events and the generosity of so many people he has donated the excellent amount of £434.71.
The Parents Association kindly allowed the Foundation to have a stall at this popular event. A great evening for all concerned, stall holders and visitors alike. Well done to the PA for a great event which raised £80 for the Foundation.
Swimathon at Stockport Grammar School - Rotary Club of Stockport & Lamplighters - Team Alex. The team raised over £452 of which £226 went to the Foundation.
Alex's Cousin Caitlin Jamieson kindly offered to hold a cake sale at her school to raise money for the Foundation and raised an amazing £271.
Ashton on Mersey School 6th Form - Charity Fundraiser
Due to the kindness and generosity of so many people, Dawn Concannon was able to donate an amazing £1241.34 to the Foundation.
James Dewey split his donations between the Foundation and Macmillan Cancer Care who provided us great support throughout Alex's treatment. In total, James raised over £1300 for the two charities which meant that he was able to contribute a fantastic £656.86 to our cause.
Sheila Simon, Nicole Simon and Georgina Newton kindly ran in this event for the Foundation. To date Sheila and Nicole have raised a fantastic £263.47 and Georgina has raised a brilliant £272.41
Heatons Open Gardens
Rotary Club of Stockport & Lamplighters third annual open gardens event. A well supported event raised £750 for the Foundation with the same amount being donated to other selected charities. A special mention to Mary Sears from Mary's Flower Basket in Heaton Chapel for donating an additional £100
Charity Fund Donation
The Foundation was presented with a cheque for £1500 by Lindsey Wood, Team Manager at Tk Maxx in Stockport. Lindsey, a friend of Dawn Concannon, kindly nominated the Foundation to benefit from the Charity Fund run by Tk Maxx. We are truly grateful to Lindsey for her nomination and to Tk Maxx for selecting the Alex Hulme Foundation.
Mayor of Stockport Charity Event - The Arden Arms
A great night was had by all at the first official charity event on behalf of the new Mayor of Stockport's Charity Fund from which the Royal British Legion & the Alex Hulme Foundation. The New Lights Band along with acoustic guitar & vocalist Amanda Hague provided gra entertainment to the many people who kindly supported this event.

Graham Curtis - Personal Triathlon Challenge
"As some of you will know my own son, Christopher, died, aged 2 years old, from Leukaemia 20 years ago and I was very touched when a colleague’s son, Alex Hulme died aged 12 from B-Cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in September 2011. I am therefore hoping to raise some money for the Alex Hulme Foundation by taking part in this ‘stupid’ escapade."
Graham completed the Great Manchester Cycle on Sunday 29th June 2014, 'We love Manchester 10k’ on Sunday 13th July 2014, and a 400m swim at the Village 10th August 2014 raising £1,533.25.
Charity Football Match
AHF Athletic v Harleguin FC - Sunday 13th July 2014 - Stockport Sports Village, Woodley, Stockport. A fantastically orgainised and supported event allowed Sam to donate £716 to the Foundation.
Alex's friend from Woodheys Primary School, Matthew Leonard decided to take on the brave feat of having his head shaved in support of the Foundation.
English Channel Swim
"Since the 1960’s when I first enjoyed swimming as a junior at Sale Swimming Club (now Trafford Metro), I have nurtured a dream to swim the English Channel one day. I finally now have the chance to realise that ambition at the grand old age of 60."
David undertook his challenge on 5th September 2014 but unfortunately, after swimming for over an amazing 8 hours, he had to concede due to the poor weather conditions being a threat to his safety. David raised well over £4,000 in total and we are very grateful to him for all his efforts.

The Waywells are each doing an event to raise funds for the Alex Hulme Foundation in memory of a dear friend. Jack grew up with Alex through nursery and primary school and remained friends despite going to different secondary schools. We all miss Alex greatly and want to help raise funds for his fantastic foundation set up in his memory, in a hope that one day we will find a cure for NHL and the loss we feel at him going will not be in vein.

100 Club Dinner
Guest speaker was Barrie McDermott an English former professional rugby league footballer of the 1990s and 2000s. A Great Britain international, he played his club football at Oldham, Wigan Warriors, Leeds Rhinos, Bramley and Widnes.
The afternoon was hosted by Eamonn O'Neal - Deputy Lieutenant of Greater Manchester and Group Managing Editor of Trinity Mirror's regional publications and websites in the north of England.
